please one last post... If someone gets herpes whitlow can it go unnoticed? I've also read that's it's really painful do u know if it is or not? what r the symptoms?

Is there a place available for support for parents with herpes where we can share our concerns?

thank you

Once you are infected with herpes in one area, it gives you significant protection from becoming infected in another area later on.  It can happen but the risk is incredibly minimal.

No your hands aren't always contagious - the skin on the hands is too thick for the virus to easily shed from so typically unless an active whitlow lesion is present, there's no risk.
