herpes

Hi,
i had sex with a guy with protection most of the times, few months later  i got painful blister in my vaginal area , it lasted for abt a week, i visited the doctor n she said it looks like herpes, she dint confirm she said it looks like, my partner got tested , he has hsv1 positive n hsv -2 negative, i am not sure if i have herpes or is it somethin else,  i got these blister after using a new lubricant.but my partner told me that he also got this kinda of outbreak 2 yrs before. is it dangerous , is it that i am susceptable  to get HIV.

A painful blister sounds like herpes, you probably have HSV-1 genitally but the only way to know for sure is to get a type-specific herpes blood test and only look at your IgG results. The only reason to be worried about contracting HIV when it comes to herpes is if you're having unprotected sex while having open blisters as it would be easier for the virus to enter through them.
