My son recently started pre-k and since his has never been on day care, he has been getting sick a lot, than he got a stomach virus and was vomiting and had diarrhea I took him to the doctor and they say to just keep him hydrated and make sure he didn't have a fever. Than his started complaining when I wiped his little but because he was constantly using the bathroom so I put some diaper rash cream to help with the burning. But now it looks like he has blisters around his little anus and am petrified that I some how infected him. Is it possible that I might have gone to the bathroom and not wash my hands Or that i had the infection on my finger and when I applied the cream I infected him, or is there an explanation for the blisters. Am so afraid that I might have put my son in danger unknowingly. I need answers please. I've had herpes since before he was born and never experienced anything like this and am afraid that I have cause this to poor child
I have had genital herpies 2 for 15 years. I take soking baths and have gotten outbreaks on my bottem. My daughter is 4 and takes soaking bathes also. I have my own soap and bleach the tub after I use the tub because I seem to get more outbreaks if I drop the soap in my bath water and reuse the soap.

There is no reason to do any sort of extra cleaning of the tubby when you have herpes. The virus is easily killed with soap and water so there won't be any virus just sitting around on the tubby to infect anyone even if you could contract herpes that way.
Genital herpes is transmitted thru direct skin on skin contact with the infected area. We only talk about washing the hands after using the toilet or touching your genital area intimately just to err on the side of caution ( plus it's basic hygiene to boot not to mention the EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWW factor of not doing so ). It's not very likely that herpes would be transmitted by not washing your hands after using the toilet.
