herpetic urethritis

I was diagnosed with Chlamydia in April, was given Azythromycin and after a few days things felt clear.  A month later i had similar symptoms, went back, tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea.  I was given a 10 day course of Doxycycline.  still had symptoms after this so more doxy, metrodinazole was given. no true relief.  I then went on avelox which seemed to help but my persciption ran out as I am at sea.  Since i was in a foreign country, the only thing available was ciprofloxacin/trinidizole combo pills.  I am concerned at this point that it could actually be herpetic urethritis although i do not remember any external symptoms (maybe one sore off of my pubis at one point)  The pain seems to come most post ejaculation, although will occasionally wake me up as i sleep on my stomach.  I was also given a digital prostate exam that hurt quite a bit and persisted to hurt several days after.  My prostate occasionally hurts now as well.

help?

Thanks fleet!

unfortunately, im stuck outside of proper medical care for some months.  all i have is google at the moment.  I have been doing a hell of a lot of research and im trying to figure out if herpetic urethritis can exist without external symptoms?  if it can affect the prostate?  if my symptoms could indicate prostatitis? (i spent probably a week in denial that i had chlamydia and didnt go to the clinic for some time, until the pain was so bad that i had to do something.  i think this could have possibly led to NGU or prostatitis?)  any help is appreciated

If there are just internal symptoms, I see no real reason to suspect herpes here, at least as the cause of the symptoms.

Once you've had bacteria such as chlam in the prostate it can take a good while for everything to return to normal. You need to drink a lot of water and regular ejaculations would be useful as well, if that isn't too much trouble.

A blood test for IgG antibodies type specific for HSV1 and HSV2 would be useful nevertheless.
