high reference range number for negative results on igg test

high reference range number for negative results on igg test

hello,
on November 6 I engaged in sexual activity. i took a igg test in october and my results were
HSV1- 4.23  POSITIVE
HSV2-   .32  NEGATIVE

I THEN TESTED AFTER MY EXPOSURE ON DECEMBER 16 (5 WEEKS LATER), AND MY RESULTS WERE
HSV1- >5.00 H  POSITIVE
HSV2-     .79     NEGATIVE

NOW, MY QUESTION IS:
1)  WHY IS IT THAT EVERY TIME I TAKE A TEST MY REFERENCE RANGE INCREASES?
2)  DOES THIS MEAN THAT I AM SLOWLY MOVING INTO BEING POSITIVE AND MY BODY JUST HASN'T DEVELOPED ENOUGH DETECTABLE ANTIBODIES?
3)  SHOULD I JUST ACCEPT THE NEGATIVE RESULT AND MOVE ON (NEGATIVE IS NEGATIVE) ?
4)  DOES THE REFERENCE RANGE MATTER IF THE RESULTS ARE NEGATIVE BECAUSE .79 IS REALLY CLOSE TO THE DETECTABLE RANGE OF .89-.91?

A WEEK BEFORE TAKING THE TEST I WAS ON ATIBIOTICS FOR AN INFECTION CALLED AZITHROMYCIN TABLETS, COULD THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY RANGE BEING HIGH? AND DOES MY HIGH HSV1 RESULT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT?

I KNOW THIS SEEMS LIKE A LOT BUT I REALLY HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO SLEEP OR ANYTHING THINKING ABOUT THIS..SO PLEASE HELP ME.

no antibiotics do not affect your herpes igg blood testing.

your igg results will not be the exact same every time. they will differ from test to test somewhat.

no you don't have any reason to suspect that you are slowly creeping up into the hsv2+ range because of the change in your results.

if you need the peace of mind, repeat your hsv2 igg blood test 3-4 months after you last had sex. The risk from a one time encounter though is very low in general even if it wasn't protected.
