hmmm Where do I begin?

Ok.. Here's the deal.  Been married forever and we have been only with eachother since we've been married.  We started exerimenting with another couple (full swap) and after about a week (maybe 10 days), my wife broke out with genital sores. (never had them in her life) Ok, she's been tested, and found out she is now positive fo HSV-1 in the genital area.

Unknown to us, the "other" male in this equation also has Oral HSV-1.  Yes, during this time, he did have oral with my wife.  Strangely enough, his wife tests neg for HSV-1 after YEARS of marriage... and has shown no symptoms either orally or genitally...  Thought that was odd with how easily it is spread.

So here are the questions....  Possibilities of transmissio of genital HSV-1 to me both orally and genitally?  If it's skin to skin contact, and the area of her infection would be a contact location "outside" of where a condom would protect, what good would a comdom do?

I heard that genital HSV-1 is very rare to reoccur and/or infect anyone else after the inital OB?

Any help is appreciated..

How was your wife diagnosed with hsv1 genitally? Was that from a lesion culture of the active symptoms or a blood test? Have you been tested yet to know your own status?

I can't eat chocolate, any types of nuts give me an outbreak. I'm getting married and want to conceive... do I have an artificial insemination or put my partner at risk of getting HVS 2 by trying natural  conception without using a condom?

PLEASE I NEED AN ANSWER FROM A DOC.

I dont think there is a risk with condom but its best to avoid sex when there are active sores, blisters and leisons.
