hope some one can help clear up a few questions

hello. I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes. it was a total shock I have been in a monogomaus relationship with my boyfriend for almost a year. I knew something was wrong when I went into the doctors last week with complaints of groind pain and swollen lymph nodes in groin. The doctor examined me and she said that I definantly had swollen glands she said it was from a possible std. I have always been careful and so has my boyfriend. just the week before I had a urinary track infection that I had been treated for. I thought that's why my lypmh nodes where still swollen but over the course of a few days they had gotten worse. I was tested for everything all std except herpes. I guess at the time I was not exibiting any symptoms.  The doctor gave me some antibiotics and sent me on my way I started to feel worse the next day. later that night I couldn't sleep and started to having all the classic symptoms burning itching tingling and I had a lesion I went back to the doctor on monday who told me that it was herpes. he put me on valtrax I haven't ever experianced anything like this before. my boyfiend is going to get tested this weekend. the doctor said that I caught it freom him and that he just didn't exibit any symptoms or was having an outbreak a few weeks ago and passed it on to me. I have been test before and I was negative. is it possible that he got it from, me first or that I contracted it from him. The gyno said that if this is my first outbreak most likly he has the disease and that he unknowingly passed it on to me will the blood test he takes on sat show up positive since I have symptoms and he hasn't had any. I apologize for the wordiness I just have a few questions. I would like to thank in advance any one who anwsers this post.

If your bf is infected and recently transmitted the virus to you - his igg blood test will be + for either hsv1 or hsv2 ( or both ).

When was the last time you were tested? Was that a blood test you had done ?

Did they do any lesion cultures on your symptoms too?

hello grace thank u for awnsering my question. I'm not sure the last time I was tested but I took a bllod culture today. the doctor gave me a viral culture when I was diagnosed. alson he is the first guy I have ever experimented with anal sex with I believ I have lesion in my anus. not to gross u out but it itches and hurts when I pass my stools plus there is a painful rash between my anus and opening of vagina. we had anal sex a few weeks ago could that be why I'm having an outbreak. I honestly really don't ever recall having any syptoms (symptoms) like this. I just want to know if he will show a positive igg or I'm result indicating infection thank u so much once again

At this point I recommend you both get type specific herpes igg blood tests and go from there.  

did your lesion culture come back yet?

Yes ma'am I took my Blood test yesterday. He is taking his tommorow after work. My legion culture I had from the ER tested poistive but they didn't iindicate what type. I'm about to call My gyno to find out if they have the results back from the viral culture they took on monday .  Still want to know. what the likley hood of him being posivitve for it could be

I just got off the phone with the nurse test result came back positive for hsv2. She said that they only tested me for 2 and not one. like I had stated in the previous post I had never had any symptoms before. no outbreak just wondering if my boyfirnd will test positive

Was it the lesion culture that came back + for hsv2 or the blood test?

No way to guess if your bf is infected or not too. Will have to wait for his test results to come back too for better answers.

Test result was positive for for a viral culture. I guess you're right as soon as we get the result I will let u know.

I can help you both with your blood test results too when you get them. All you need to post for me is their actual results - ie hsv1 igg 6.7 and hsv2 igg 4.3 or whatever they are. Just post them in this thread and it'll bump it back up to the top for me to see.
