how all can it spread?

wyg
i read that an infected person can spread it to another part of their body. so after i shave my bikini area should i not reuse that razor? i also read that you can get herpes thru an infected towel. should i worry that my kids might pick up my dirty towel/washcloth /bathsoap and could get the hsv2 virus?

more likely something non-herpes related. time to be seen for a repeat exam it sounds like :(

I'm still not sure as to when I'm having an OB...over the past week I have had spotting that is coming and going. Could this be a sign of an OB on my cervix? I kinda have a pain/burning feeling that i would think is a UTI although it's constant -not- even more intense when I do void.

I went nuts when each of my baby's fontanels closed since I couldn't check them for meningitis daily after that!!  Of course when they slept, I was dancing in the streets with joy....lol

you have to be even more careful to drink extra and eat well while breast feeding. Your body will steal from you to make milk for the baby and you suffer in the long run. You don't want to be one of those bent over little old ladies in 40 years do you???  Drink tons - your body needs fluid to make milk. Eat regularly and certainly don't worry about calories or anything at this point. Also ask your gf's and family for help too.  Let them know that you appreciate them bringing you food and keeping your company :)

b regarding the other post of being suspicious with my hubby, sorry i thought starting a new thread with a new heading would b the right thing to get answers from other members. but yes i could just see him wanting to do counseling if i dont calm down, ive been a basket case about everything lately. n i will try n not wonder if he gave it to me n just trust that he is super supportive! thats the best thing for me right now is letting him be there for me cuz he can be my best support. although he makes me have boundries with certain things, but i guess that is normal. hes letting me know that its a turn off if i insist on certain things. he just trying to save the relationship is how i should view it, huh

yes he is home now, been for 3 wks. i wish i could have brought home all the monitors!! my heart is gonna be in my feet just knowing he could have a reoccurance in the next year, really anytime right? hes on acyclovir q8hrs for a yr. im a nurse so i feel like im probably worse than the normal mom with watching for any tiny signal. im stressed cuz im the one that has to catch his symptoms n what if i fail to catch something. i freak if he naps too much, if he doesnt get hungry in 5hrs, if he doesnt look at me when i talk to him, i count his breaths its bad. n everyone tells me he is soo healthy n fine, its me they have to worry about. i dont do the best with taking care of my self but will try harder. i know i should, i breast feed also so i really really should. i will let my doc know id like to adress the pressure at my next appt. n if he blows me off i will deff change docs.

you won't have odor with a herpes recurrence.

the changes in  hormones post pregnancy can cause issues too so it's important to be seen and get tested for vaginitis at this point. Many things you can't deal with all that great during pregnancy but now that that part is over, your providers can start trying to get to the bottom of things finally!!

I have to remind you -  eat, drink and take care of yourself!!!  It's hard when you are with your baby to remember to drink but drink tons to keep your urinary system flushed.  Eat healthy so your body has all those vitamins in veggies to keep repairing all the damage 9 months of growing a baby does to your body!!  It's so easy to forget about what you need when you have a newborn in general let alone when your baby is sick.  Is your baby home from the hospital yet?

oh and vent away, I work in healthcare and know how much the system can suck sometimes....sigh.

oh yes it is really overwhelming...having breakdowns freaking out n worrying over every little thing with the baby on top of trying to figure out things with myself. anxiety constantley! i'm becoming a basket case with everything. but i think im gonna end up changing docs cuz ive felt like ive had no voice now for 7 months, i'm beginning to feel like i trust no doc's or nurses anymore. its so frustrating. i need peace somewhere. as for having uti's still...i have no clue i can smell a certain odor when i pee is how i 'thought' i had it figured out when i was pregnant when my uti was getting bad, but now i'm wondering if it's the smell u get with a herpes OB. cuz i had the doc put me on an antibiotic for a uti n the nurse call me the very next day n tell me my labs came back that i had no uti! they were both going off the same labs!!! drives me nuts. i know u probably can't help me there, but just so ya know what i'm dealing with. n thats just minor. well i'm rambling now sorry-but i never knew of them ever checking for BV or a yeast infection. would that have been a standard thing when they did the swab to for strep b before my delivery? cuz thats the only swab i ever knew of them doing. i had to beg to be checked to see how far i was dialated after having regular contractions for about 4 mos. so i know he never swabbed me let alone looked with all of my complaints i was having. i'm sorry it's so long but i have to admit i feel 10 times better getting all of that out. lol

I'd go back and be seen again , get retested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally and let them get a good look at what is going on. your body is getting back to normal now and they can now start trying to find out what besides herpes is going on and causing you so much trouble down yonder.  if you continue to get uti's now that you aren't pregnant too, they need to address that too. same as any more blood in your urine, they can easily look for kidney stones now too.

I know, so much to deal with while your are still dealing with your sick baby :(

I have started suppressive therapy. Doc has me on twice a day for 10days then once a day. i just started this this past week. but this pressure feeling I've had since I was pregnant and was told it was a UTI, one that i supposably had like the whole way through my pregnancy. the pressure does go away for some time. It just has me very confused cuz all the symptoms I had thru pregnancy like fever, chills, body aches, the pressure, peeing blood, lower back ache, regular contractions the whole way thru the 2nd and 3rd trimester-I was told all of this was  UTI even after the symptoms not going away after finishing the antibiotics. sometimes they would go away but shortly would come back. I was on 5 rounds of antibiotics during this pregnancy. when i was peeing blood i didnt have enough  bacteira to call it a UTI n was told it 'could' be a kidney stone, but never got a definate answer. I'm just stumped on how to know where n what my hsv2 symptoms are. so for now i dont know if i should just assume the pressure is an OB.

it's hard with your baby being so young, things aren't remotely back to normal down yonder yet. Perhaps to help with your anxiety start daily suppressive therapy to keep recurrences few and far between so you aren't going to constantly be wondering if you are having a recurrence?

Answers everything. Thank you! Just so it's known I dont share my hygene products, I'm aftraid of stuff dropping and my kids mistakenly picking up my stuff. And good the razor thing is what I have been doing since i have found out. Because i have not really a clue as to tell when I'm having an OB, my baby got neonatal herpes and that's the only reason I know I have herpes...so yeah I'm like a nervous wreck cuz I dont know when or where the outbreak is going on. I'm trying to figure it out like right now I have a pressure inside my vagina so I'm researching to see if i can find out what that is but having no luck. I don't know maybe I should assume this feeling is an OB!?!?

you don't have to worry about your children contracting herpes from touching anything you've used. this isn't a risk at all. we always recommend that every family member has their own towel, washcloth, body puff ( or whatever you call those shower thingees ), toothbrush and razor for good hygiene's sake.   many common germs are easily spread by sharing those products so they should never be shared in general.

should you use a new razor each time you shave your genital area? no you don't have to. If you are shaving more than just the nooks and crannies, I'd have one razor devoted to that area and not use the same razor all over your body just to err on the side of caution.

towels - not an issue if your kids grab yours by accident.  teach your kids why not sharing them is a good idea ( spreads skin diseases , cold and flu germs etc ).

the fats in soaps easily kill herpes virus. you can all share bar soap in the bathroom - not an issue.

thanks for the opinons and advice. my reason for worrying is i hang dry my wash cloths in the shower until i wash them (just to prevent mildew) and they sometimes fall to the shower floor. You know kids...hands all over everything. so since i was told i could have hsv 2 i wont even use my childrens bathroom, which i like way better than my own. i usually reuse the same razor blade 2 or 3 times but you think this isnt a good idea huh? i guess it is reccomended not to reuse period. i just always have to save $ on razors. lol!

Hi, I've known about my infection for the past 2 years so I know quite a bit about the virus. You can't pass the virus on through a towel. However, I don't reuse any of my towels before rewashing if I wipe my privates on them. I've had that habit since childhood. The virus has to be transmitted through some kind of a mucousa membrane. I may have spelled that wrong, but that's how it's spread. That includes the mouth, nose, eyes, open wounds, vagina, penis, and anus. It doesn't seep through pores or anything. Although I read somewhere that it can live on unbroken skin for a couple of minutes, but you would just need to wash the area right after contact with the infected area. You can still shave but depending on how your body deals with the virus, shaving can trigger an outbreak. I've shaved after being diagnosed. Nothing extra happened other than razor bumps. I never reuse a razor after I shave anything because of the fear of the razor rusting and cutting myself and getting tetanus lol. But you're fine with the towels.

Hi,  I was just told that I have Hsv2....for me, I do reuse my towel because I heard it doesn't spread that way.  As for razors, I would always change it, especially shaving the pubic area.  Since I found out about having Hsv2, I stopped shaving in the pubic area...just shaving my bikini line and keeping everything neat.  I started having tons of problems after shaving down south. So, I'm going to stop for a while.
Soap, your kids can't get it...
I would always just change your towels to be safe, if you are sharing... just my opinion.
