I am a sexually active gay man and have had a very mild herpes that I got over 20 years ago. I have not had an outbreak in going on three years and the last few didn't even break the skin, I just had mild swelling in the place where I used to get my single lesion--at the top of my buttocks, near the base of my spine. I am very careful not to have sex with anyone when I either feel tingling or have any symptoms, and I take Valtrex regularly (1000mg daily). Is there any chance I could still infect a partner? I have not, to my knowledge, ever done so.
