hsv-1 inside the mouth?

I found out I had hsv-1 a couple months ago.  I'm not sure if it was a recent infection or something I had years back.  I can't recall ever having a break out even till this day.  I'm still trying to figure out if it is genital or oral but assuming oral.
I've been very careful around my children ever since I found out even avoiding kissing them, sharing food,etc.. .  However, today, my 4 yr old daughter complained about an itch/pain inside the mouth.  when I pulled her bottom lip down to look inside, I noticed a bunch a really small little pimple-like bumps spread out inside the center area.  I also noticed what looked like a single fever blister which was much larger inside the bottom left area.

From what I have read, oral herpes usually manifests outside the mouth, on the lips or on the tongue, throat.  Is it possible for oral herpes to occur inside the mouth in the areas I describe?

The other concern is that I have other children, especially one that has allergies and tends to rub his eyes alot. I'm more concerned about ocular herpes than anything else.  What's the best way to prevent the spread especially to the eyes?  I've been reminding my children not to touch their lips/mouth and eyes but as children, they tend to do things instinctively...

Yes, its actually better if the blister hasn't popped.

Thanks Grace for the info.  Will do.  If the blister hasn't popped, will the culture of lesion still be able to detect hsv-1?

If these were all inside the mouth - it's more likely to be canker sores.  Also kids that age tend to get hand, foot and mouth too ( coxsackie virus ) - it's a viral illness that kids tend to share easily ( and it'll probably get a little worse yet in the next day or so before it starts to get better if it is that ).  You can follow up with it all with her doctor tomorrow if you want but they aren't going to do anything unless she's not eating or drinking enough because of the symptoms to be honest.  If they think it's oral herpes - ask for a lesion culture to confirm it just to err on the side of caution - herpangina, oral herpes, canker sores and coxsackie virus are all frequently misdiagnosed for each other :(
