hsv 1+2

Hi,

I just received some lab results back and it says "HSV 1+2 IGG 8.97 H interpretation >1.1 = Positive"

What is this what can i think? My doctor is not available until next week and I really need to know what is going on. Can you pease advice me? Thanks.

still wondering if no symptoms, how will i know when 2 stay away from others.. i know u can protect urself by using condoms and stuff but it can only go so far. Plus orally if i have no symtoms how will i know when not to kiss?? help this is so frustrating. are there any other minors signs that can be looked for other than sores?

It appears from the way you posted your results that you had a non-type specific herpes igg blood test. you can' t ascertain anything from that other than you have at least 1 type of herpes in your body.  Since most of us have hsv1 orally whether we get cold sores or not - most folks will test + on the non-type specific.

You'll need to talk to your provider when they get back and ask them if you are either reading the results wrong and it really was type specific for either hsv1 or hsv2 or if you aren't then request that a type specific herpes igg blood test be drawn.  If they didn't do th etype specific one - let them know how much of a waste of time and money that is and that the CDC recommends type specific herpes blood testing at this point.
