hsv 2 lost and confused.

I recently went in for my well woman check up, so that I could get back on birth control and requested that my NP run a full std panel, since it had been awhile since I had been tested for anything, and was shocked when she told me that I have hsv 1&2. My igg score for hsv 1 was 3.25 and hsv 2  1.63. Told my now ex bf who said his results came back yesterday and he said he was negative I do not know his score. Is it possible that this is a false positive?  I have never had any symptoms and as far as I know neither has he and do I need further testing done? And if so I would rather not go back to the Dr. I visited before since all they would pretty much say was hey you have herpes, wouldnt return my calls about or answer my questions about antiviral meds for maintenance . They just said if you have a ob call us and we'll give you a Rx for acyclovir. Well I have never had an ob! Sorry if this is hard to follow.

Thanks for the input guys, I have decided to go to the local std clinic to get tested again for now until I can afford a western blot. All this uncertainty is really wearing on me this past month:-(

Obtaining a Westernblot test is the best thing you can do in order to determine whether this is a false positive. As mentioned, below 3.5 is worthwhile checking further in the absence of any lesions.

1.63 is low. From my understanding you should keep testing till you get a 3.00 or higher. As a 3.00+ can be trusted anythaing lower can't.
