hsv from oral?

7 weeks ago I received unprotected oral sex from someone I don't know.  Three days later I woke up feeling sick and had a swollen gland in my groin and a sore throat.  (We kissed also.)
Burning feeling in my urethra probably around day 5.  It never hurt while I peed but burning in my urethra was undeniable. This problem got worse and I began to pee probably 15 times a day with a very weak stream.   My urethra seemed closed and getting urine out was difficult. Urinalysis came back totally normal.
This symptom began to improve around day 22.  It is not all better.  If I squeeze my penis I can feel pain in the urethra but my pee stream has pretty much returned to normal.
My doctor gave me a 7 day course of doxycycline which didn't seem to have an effect.
I've tested negative for everything.  Had a test for hsv at 3 weeks.  I already knew I've had hsv1 probably since childhood.  Never had a cold sore.  igg hsv1 positive hsv2 negative.  Igm both negative (at 3 weeks.)
At about day 23 I noticed a couple of pimples on my upper thigh.  These may me razor bumps.  1 went away in a couple days and the other is still there.
Also I noticed 2 pin sized dots, 1 on my scrotum and 1 on my penis head ridge.  The one on my penis head is so small I'm not sure if it was there always.  Doctors are all assuring me these are not from herpes.
My general sick feeling has persisted these past 7 weeks.  Very low energy and a sore throat returning any time I exert myself.
1. I know the chances of getting ghsv 2 from receptive oral are small.  But is it possible? 2. Is it possible to have herpetic urethritis without obvious lesions anywhere else? 3. If all my urine tests came back clean for bacterial infections doesn't that mean I must have a viral infection?  4. Since I already have antibodies to hsv1 would a new hsv2 infection make me this sick?  (Swollen gland, flu like symptoms, urethritis?).  5. Is there any value to the fact that my igm tests were negative at 3 weeks?

You sound like you have prostatitis. Go see a urologist, not a gp. You likely need to go on at 6 weeks of antibiotics, stop alcohol and caffeine intake for a while, and drink plenty of water. Your symptoms you describe are not herpes.

I have an appointment with an ID next week.  That'll be just about 12 weeks post possible exposure so test results should be conclusive.  I don't believe in god but I'm praying to him none the less.
Yes I've been talking about this with my therapist.  And my gf has been amazing about all this.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Try to keep positive. Go back and see your doc and insist on Herpes testing. If they refuse, go see another doc.
It may pay to see a therapist if you can't get any peace of mind. I did and it really helped me. Have you told your GF? It's your decision, but if you do, be prepared for the consequences. I told my wife, and have just managed to hold onto the marriage - just. Like I said - therapy helps.

I am waiting for 12 weeks.

Just a couple of questions:
I am hoping this is some sort of NGU besides herpes.  Would other ngu infections be accompanied by the systemic symptoms I've been dealing with?  General sick feeling for 2 months?  (I am just starting to feel better.  Very depressed and not myself but at least not bed ridden.).
Would herpes make me sick for 2+ months?
Urethra still isn't back to normal.  Intense urethritis lasted a week or two but my urethra still hurts at times, especially after mastrabation.

I got my urinalysis after I did a course of doxycycline so I'm really hoping that is why everything appeared normal.  Although I was still in pain after the antibiotics.

Also is it common to have urethritis from herpes without external symptoms?

It is amazing how little my doctor knows about all this.  It has been a nightmare.  She won't even test me for herpes because she thinks this is all caused from anxiety.  Is it even possible for urethritis to be caused by anxiety?  She is telling me that I don't have herpes because I don't have lesions while I am reading that most people with HSV don't have lesions.

Thank you again for your help.

If you didn't have pus cells in your urine, I don't think you had mycoplasma.
If you had no oral contact with the CSW then your mouth is not a risk to your partner.

Sixteen weeks provides the greatest certainty but in your case, with the risk from HSV 2 being so low, I think 12 will do.

Thank you very much for your help.
I am terrified.

Just a couple more questions...
I am not having sex w my girlfriend until I find out what is going on.  But can I kiss her?  Is the fact that I've had a sore throat a possible indication of an oral hsv2 infection?  (My girlfriend has asymptomatic hsv1 also.)

Also, I was waiting to get tested at 12 weeks.  You suggest 16 weeks?

If this is a mycoplasma infection would the doxycycline not have taken care of it?  Is there a more effective antibiotic perhaps?

The lack of white cells in your urine suggests lack of infection.  Yes, if you had herpetic urethritis, I would expect some white cells in your urine as lesions in the urethra would add white cells to the urine as urine passed over them on the way out of the body.

I can't really think of other testing that would be helpful at this point.  If you want to test for herpes, I would wait 16 weeks from time of exposure.

The WBC and Leukocytes were normal in my urine.  Would a herpes infection not make WBC high?
Could it still be mycoplasma or anything bacterial?

What should my next step be?  I'm waiting to get my hsv testing.  Doctors are telling me I definitely don't have hsv and that I don't need to test.  Is there any other urologic test I should ask for?  Should I ask for antivirals?

Is it possible to get HSV 2 from a commercial sex worker?  yes.  Is it likely? no.

The urethral symptoms are certainly concerning and I can see why you are considering herpes as a cause.  But just because the routine things like chlamydia and gonorrhea are negative, it does not mean that you could not have contracted a different bacterial infection like mycoplasma for which testing is not readily available yet.

People who already have HSV 1 can have very minimal responses to an HSV 2 infection of big symptoms, it varies a whole lot from person to person.

I have no faith at all in the IgM test because there are so many false positives.  Since it is a poor test, a negative at 3 weeks means nothing really to me.

The skin lesions that you describe do not sound herpetic from your description.

Again, I got back to the level of risk of getting HSV 2 from oral sex is low, but certainly a little high from commercial sex workers than it would be from the general population.
