I just got back from a regular check up. My doctor told me my herpes result was positive. I have never had any symptoms. The igm was a 1.21 but the igg was negative. I have not had sex
in 7 months. Doctor told me I may have herpes and I am taking another test next week. I read that igm tests are not too accurate. I'm looking for some help,
you tried to post on someone else's post on the std experts forum which is against their forum rules.
the herpes igm is a greatly flawed test. a positive igm is not enough to diagnose herpes with. current cdc recommendations are that the herpes igm test not be used. your provider should stop using it because it's doing their patients a disservice as well as is actually considered malpractice at this point.
Thanks Grace. The doc told me to get tested again for EBV antibodies and hsv 1 and 2. My previous results say hsv igm 1 and 2- 1.21. Am I just getting tested for the same things? Should I ask for a different test?
I don't know? I'm just looking at the slip she gave to me for my next blood test and that's what it says. But she said my igg is neg, so should I feel confident that I don't have hsv2?
