Calm down. Sometimes there's a few folks around, sometimes nobody's around. I'm actually not very good with the numbers, but that HSV-2 score looks like it could go either way. In other words, it could be a false-positive. You might want to get the type 2 retested with another kind of test just to be sure. Probably somebody else around here can give you more information, though.

On a HerpeSelect test .90 to 1.10 is equivocal and states that retesting may be necessary.  Looks like you are positive on both from your numbers.  Some push the numbers higher, but I have my results right in front of me with the key and it says what it says. Sorry.

If you want to get retested than by all means, do so.  I would wait either 12 weeks from when you think you were exposed or 12 weeks from now just to be safe.

Life is not worth living anymore?  geez louise. I sure hope you are saying that as the way you are feeling for more than just a cold sore.

Your hsv1 result is positive. That's a no brainer since you had an obvious cold sore.  Over 60% of adults in the US have hsv1 orally - it's incredibly common.

Your hsv2 result is a low positive. You will need follow up testing. How long was your last sexual encounter before you were tested?  Do you have a regular partner and if so have they  been tested yet?

hey grace!! good morning!! i have been waiting to hear from you. its seems like you know what you are talking about. well my last sexual encounter was 1/10/2008. and it was with my ex gf. she left me in sept of 2007 and since then i havent been with anyone else untill january 2008 but it was still with her, the same girl (my ex). i called her to let her know about my results trying to be responceble and mature but she started telling me off and putting me down and she states that she doesnt have hsv1 or 2. she went to go get tested but she doesnt want to talk to me so i dont think i will have the chance to know her results. now you said that my hsv2 score is a low positive, does that mean i am not really that bad? also yes i just had a cold sore and it is gone now but you can still see the scare a little bit if you really look. now can it be that because of this cold sore that my hsv2 results came back with a low positive like you say??? and also you tell me to get a follow up test, when do you think i should take the test again?? should i go somewhere else? and just for you information i took my 1st blood test on 1/18/2008 and got the results that you know of now on 1/21/2008. on that same day i asked the Dr For a retest and i had my blood drawn again that same day (1/21/2008). i should be getting those results today. do you think that the results are still going to be the same? should i have waited? did i do wrong? well please answer my questions. i thank you very much for being here and taking your time to answer question, have a great day! oh and by the way, today is my birthday. wow! huh? yeah right. i feel really sad and bad on my birthday.=( i cant baleive this.

Happy birthday :)

You will need to wait and repeat your hsv2 igg in 3 months since your last sexual encounter was just this month.
