You two can't make educated decisions as to what precautions to take together until he gets tested. Let him know how important this is for the both of you. also never a bad idea to print out a copy of the free herpes handbook and leave it where you know he's bound to pick it up and read through it :)

He won't get tested. I hate him. If I'm the one that had this first and we have been having sex all this time even during my outbreak then why after an entire month has he not had any symptoms??? could it be because he already had it to begin with?? I'm just sooo confused. I can deal with the fact that I have herpes but I can't deal with not knowing where it came from. He says he won't get tested because he has no symptoms. I hate him! I'm the one that has been suffering the last month and the bearer of bad news and he won't get tested.
you could have hsv2 orally but unless you get a recurrence to have cultured, no easy way to know. Even if you do, hsv2 orally doesn't shed very often at all so your hsv2 genital infection would be the biggest issue.
has your bf been tested to know his status? if not, that's your next step.
even the best blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. You really can't assume your cold sores were hsv2 just because your hsv1 was negative on the blood test unfortunately.
