likelihood of transmisiion

My boyfriend and I had sex the night before I had a herpes outbreak (i started feeling tingling the next morning and had sores later that afternoon). We are very worried that I may have passed it on to him. What are the chances that he may have contracted herpes from me? Please help!

if u  had unprotected sex then that's a big possibility let him test

You do shed prior to obvious lesions but only time will tell if he contracted hsv2 from you or not.

My advice is, unless he gets obvious symptoms, no testing for him just because of this incident. If this is a long term relationship it's just not worth doing a lot of testing all the time unless symptoms are present or the relationship ends and he needs to know his status before moving on to a new partner. Yearly testing just to keep an eye on his status of course would be ok.

Thanks for your feedback, Grace. I just found out that I have HSV2 and we had unprotected sex the night before my sores appeared. My boyfriend is now very worried and he went in for a blood test recently. He is also now considering ending the relationship if his test come back negative because he does not want to risk being infected with a life long disease. I'm feeling pretty devastated (both with my recent diagnosis and with the possibility of the loss of this relationship). I know couples shouldn't let something like HSV2 get in the way of a relationship but I suppose I don't have a say in this matter. I don't know what to do...
