long symptoms

I was recently had my first herpes simplex 1 outbreak about 4 weeks ago.  Cold sores on  my lips and chin and also had fever, tiredeness, drowsiness, muscle and joint ache and slight rash on my forehead.  I thought it might have been hiv so I got a antibody test done at 6 weeks which came back neg and a PCR at 6 weeks also neg.  I am still having symptoms mainly tiredness and muscle and joint aches.  It will be 4 weeks in wednesday and wanted to see if duration of primary herpes outbreak at for weeks is normal?  I just cant seems to shake the virus off.  Thank you

With your hsv1 being + fairly early on into all this - this might not even be a newly acquired hsv1 infection for you ( as HHH was aluding to when he said your blood test was + fairly early into things ).  You haven't listed what the numeric result of it was though so it's hard to really comment on it.

Sometimes what causes you to have an oral herpes ob/recurrence is that you are already infected with something else and that triggers it. Since it's been a month and you still aren't feeling well and you still have the other rash - it's best to follow up on this with your provider to find out what is going on.

Haven't you been posting on the doctor side of the forum? What makes you think  us Internet yokels are going to be any better at diagnosing you than a professional? I think you need to see a provider and forget about trying to find your salvation on the tubes.

That's a pretty long time there bud. Go get a Mono blood test done. Not saying you don't have herpes but 4 weeks is way to long for symptoms to last without relief. Good news is you may NOT have herpes. How were you diagnosed?
