low hsv 2

Hello,I am from Serbia.I don' t speek english very well.I will try to ask a question.
Before I get pregnant,I have my hsv 2 elisa test. The result was 2.2 igg, neg for igm.
The reason I get the test is because my husbant has g.hetpes during last eight years but I never have the real symptoms. After two mounth after test, we were working on baby and I got pregnant right away. But after we have sex five days, the sixt day I have some symptomps resembling herpes. That is way I took my tourch test.My hsv 2 status was 3.1 igg, neg for igm.At 34.weeks of pregnancy, I got a first recognizable symptoms of herpes.
That means, or I had herpes before my pregnancy or I catch while we were working on baby, because we did not have sex during pregnancy. I read a lot about low positives rezultates on hsv 2 in your country. Thepractise in our vountry is di fferent. To my doctors, positive rezultats before I ger pregnant is enough evidence that I have g.herpes.No question about that. What do you think,am I positive even I had a low index?actually, now I know I have hetpes, but I do not know if I ger it before my pregnancy?

This discussion is related to when are my results conclusive.

I read about antivirals but my dr didn't prescribe me anything...why I don't know.Practice here is completely different. But I will insist on caesarean.

Yes, I have at least six ultrasounds, by two different doctors and everything seems normal.Baby seems prosperous for two weeks during whole pregnansy. In few days I have my last ultrasound because I am in 38.week now.Even I had a breakout in 34.week that was not my first infection, that is 100 % sure.

We really only worry if herpes is contracted during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy and we know you would've contracted it before then. We recommend a c section regardless of symptoms if the virus is contracted during the 3rd trimester. Did your obgyn do an ultrasound at all to make sure that the baby is developing properly?

Certainly discuss taking herpes antivirals in the pregnancy doses for the last month to help ward off an obvious recurrence so that you can deliver vaginally.

Thank's for the advice to read Herpes handbook...I just did...but that did not help me...my problem is not how to resolve problem if I have outbreak at the end of pregnancy...I need someone to explain me what happen if I catch herpes early in pregnancy and this herpes handbook don't explain that. But thanks so much for the advice. And in one I don't agree with dr...low index doesn't mean necessarily that infection is fresh...a lot of people can have a low index but to have long stand infection.

And I don't have hsv 1...test show that as well...so my chances for false result are less likely...right?In my country, every labs useing elisa test...western b.which you very often mention, we can not find in our country...maybe in capital city...That is way nobody told me about confusion about low positives results, I found out about that accidentally reading english texts and my doctors think that there is no reason to deal with it.

No, my dr didn't confirm my symptomps by culture, there is no reason for that.I think, there no reason for that, it is to obvious that it's herpes...what else blisters can mean?My husbant has herpes and both of us know how herpes looks like. When we working on baby,I got my first outbreak maybe, but I wasn't sute because my symptoms were not specific like other time. That is way I am so confused, when was my in infection, begore or during pregnancy. For my dr test blood was enough evidence of herpes even my resolts were in low positive range.I have a very good risk factor...my husbant, plus blood test plus outbreak at 34.week of pregnancy...the question is when was my initial infection...it is very important because of safety of my baby.I wish I have herpes before get pregnant even if I was 2.2 igg.

So your doctor did a lesion culture to confirm that your symptoms were due to herpes or are they just relying on visual diagnosis and your blood tests?

If you haven't already, be sure to read the pregnancy section of the free herpes handbook by Terri Warren too.

Yes,we know that I have herpes. At 34.week I had my first visible outbreak and I get a confirmation from my doctor.Maybe after I have conception, while we were working on baby, maybe I have a breakout and then but my dr did not see on time because she was on vecation and that is way I'm so scared.Because I know thah the infecton could happen only before when I was 2.2 or two mounth after that test when I was 3.1 and when I suspect have the outbreak.
Maybe I am in group of people who just have a low positive status even if a long term infection is there.I read about it and I read that the most people who tested in gray zone confirme as positive. But on net, people immediately suspect in there low positives and suppose they are false.

Did they culture your symptoms you had? That would've been most helpful.

At this point, you are too far into your pregnancy for herpes blood testing to be of help confirming your low positive status. Once you get into the 3rd trimester, blood testing for herpes isn't as accurate. Your providers should continue to assume that you really do have hsv2 at this point.  Should you have any symptoms near the time of delivery, a c section should be performed to protect the baby. Have they discussed starting you on herpes antivirals in the higher pregnancy doses for the last month of pregnancy yet?

Your partner has genital herpes. You've had symptoms. Best at this point to assume that you really do have it too.

But I have outbreak,at 34.week of my pregnancy, that is for sure, I don't need a confirmation.I just don't know why my both resoults are in low positive range, but I am sure I have herpes, but when I get it...either before or during pregnancy.
Our doctors never send patients on retesting, they belive this tests. Before I get my first test, I was wihtout sex for almost a year so I belive if the test is try, that is an old infection.

Hi, your showing 2 low positives that fall into the false positive range. It would appear that its positive and recent since the antibodies are climbing, But exactly when is we really cant say for sure. Maybe before and maybe during. But since it still is falling into the false positive range you will need to test one more time to confirm. I would wait a month and retest.
