low positive

Hello,

I took the IGG herpeselect AB test for HSV1 and HSV2 in July. My results are:

HSV1: negative @ 0.22
HSV2: positive @ 1.62

I have no symptoms and took the test just to get tested and be safe. As i'm researching more, i see that false positives can occur when they are in the low range. I am thinking of testing a second time and then doing a WB to be sure.. Any thoughts??

Thank you.

I had similar IGG numbers to you (HSV-1 negative and HSV-2 at low positive), and I was approx. 11 months post-exposure.  I am about to seek a Western Blot as it seems the best method to sort things out.

certainly confirm it with further testing. the WB is an excellent way to confirm your status.

Then most likely a false positive.

It was months after the exposure, around 8 months

Hi, yes you are correct. Anything below 3 would be considered a false positive in need of retesting. How long after your last exposure did you take the test as low positives are a sign of a recently acquired infection.
