lymph nodes and hsv

I asked this question in my previous thread... figured I'd start a new one.

I've had symptoms of prostatitis lately, comes and goes. I went to a urologist, had my prostate exam, culture tests came back clean... still on doxycycline antibiotics they prescribed for me, even though they didn't find any bacteria in the cultures (which seems odd to me).

two days after my exam, I developed a rash around my anus and a couple inches radiating outwards, and it looks like a typical rash from moisture, or irritation... only itchy, not painful, no blisters.. but it's lasted a few days. I figured it was because of the lingering lubrication from the exam, and that maybe it got more irritated when I run.

Anyways, yesterday I woke up with painful lymph nodes in my lower groin area, and it continues today. So I'm wondering if this rash might be an hsv symptom, because maybe it would explain the lymph problems.

I was diagnosed hsv2 4 months ago, only ever had minor outbreaks on the shaft of my penis previously.

If the rash has nothing to do with it, would the hsv have effects on the lymph nodes even when no physical manifestations are present?
