molluscum contadiosm or herpes

I was recently diagnosed with molluscum contagiosm by the dermatologist.  He assured me it was not herpes.  However, when I got my blood tested a few weeks later, it tested positive for herpes simplex.  I know both viruses are closely related, yet very different.  Is it possible that the molluscum virus showed up as something similar to herpes simplex or does it most likely mean that I have the herpes virus?

hsv1 igg .38 is negative.

were you also tested for hsv2?

The igm test is not a valid test to determine newly acquired infections so disregard its results.

molluscum is a pox virus and it won't affect a herpes blood test.  it also shouldn't be affecting the igm but that test is invalid anyways.

The results were HSV1 IGG 0.38.
It also said the following:
This assay is type specific and will differentiate between HSV1 and HSV2 infections.  A single positive result only indicates previous immunologic exposure and the level of antibody response may not be used to determine active infection or disease stage,  The test should be repeated in 4-6 weeks when negative or equivocal results are obtained in suspected early herpes simplex disease.
The performance of this assay haas not been established for pediatric populations, for neonatal screening, or for the testing of immunocompromised patients.
Interpretation:  Negative

She wrote that I was positive for HSV (Igm).  Then asked if I had any signs or symptoms, which is no.  If I did not have signs, she said to repeat HSV Igm.

What does this mean?

She took more blood to see which type it was or if it was anything at all.
When I told the doc I had no real symptoms of herpes, just the symptoms of the mulloscum (Itching from the dermatologist freezing them off, and the small pimples), she said it will most likely come back as a false positive.
Could this be true with the information I gave to you?

Maybe it detected the virus from the molluscum.

You can have both.

I can best help you if you post your blood test results here - ie hsv1 igg 7.6 and hsv2 igg 4.3 or whatever they are.
