my girl just found out she got herpes.

my girl just found out she got herpes.

My girlfriend was marry to a man who always cheated on her, when we go together it was just me and her she left him and moved with me we have been together a year now and we went to the doctors because she was swollen and burning down there as well as blisters (painful ones) and the doctor said she has her 1st herpes out break we was both stuned. I have a two part question 1 Is it possible that her ex-husband gave her that even though she was not with him sexually for 16 months? 2 Eventhough the infected area is her private area can she still give me oral sex or even kiss me on the mouth?

It is possible, but rare, to have the first ob a while after transmission, even 16 months.  While oral and genital herpes are the same virus they are separate.  She can transmit from the infected area (genitals) to a new area (mouth).  But if she does not have it orally she cannot transmit from her mouth to another area, like your mouth or genitals, so kissing would be fine and her performing oral sex would be fine.  Hope this helps.

At this point you both need proper testing for herpes. I recommend that you both get a type specific herpes igg blood test done to see who has what.

If she tests + for herpes and you test negative for the same type, odds are that she had herpes before meeting you and never knew it and this was just her first obvious recurrence of the virus.

www.westoverheights.com has the free herpes handbook. both of you reading it would be really helpful too :)
