need advice

I have been worrying about whether i have herpes or not for almost 2 years, finally got the blood test done, came back postitive for both types, feeling terribly bad.

I had unprotected sex 2008 summer when the guy i was seeing came back from a trip. A couple of days later, I felt pain at one spot in the public area, I thought it was a cut from shaving. But two months later, it came back, same spot, same mild symptom, been going on like that for 2 years.

I never saw any blisters, most of the time, it started from small red bump, and there was only one or two small breakouts, i did see watery lesions and ulcers and it comes every couple of months. Not hurting like hell, but it does hurt. It always comes back to the same spots. Just hoping it is not herpes, it is not....Well, it is according to the test result. I guess it is what it is.

Doctor wants to put me on medication,Can anyone give some advice, is there a need to go on medication? I'm not sextually active at all, with this test result, I don't think I will ever be, so don't want to go on medication, esp. the cost is around 300 dollars a month, too much for me, i don't have any insurance.

I only slept with two guys my whole 40+s years life, and this is what i got...just too much for me to digest. I guess I should just stop dreaming of finding my soul mate. I hard very little sex in the last 9 years, just want to do it with the right person. I ended up with this...herpes, what a life.

I'm 19, got hsv-1 from my ex, you're lucky your outbreaks don't sound as horrible as my first one.  I would say since you don't really have outbreaks often don't take the monthly meds.  I take Valtrex for every outbreak I've had, its expensive, but it works and you don't have to take it all the time.  I know how you feel about the not wanting to have sex, but you can totally still find a soul mate, if he is made for you he won't care about any std you have.  Do not give up hope, its not a good place to go.
