i spoke with the nurse at my clinic and she said that a cut like what you might get when you have sex with someone who is very large is normal and that is what i have, but that isn't true....? i don't think i have yeast or a bacterial infection because i've had both, and they stink, and i don't have any odor....so confusing. i also only ever got them when i was having sex, which hasn't happened since i first had this issue, never just out of the blues. so is this a contagious area, mild outbreak, or something else?
cuts in the genital skin are not normal. If you are getting these and are on suppressive therapy, you really need to follow up on it and be seen when you have them and get tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally for starters.
I do recommend using a different razor for shaving the pubic hair if you prefer to shave it all off. If you just neaten up the edges so you don't look like your grandmother in your panties, the same one you use for the rest of the body should be fine. No need for a different towel either - just dry off your genitals next to last ( feet are last ). no need to wash your hands after drying off either!!!

i obviously have hsv 2 because i get, what i believe, mild reoccurrences. i know mild cuts on the perineum can be an outbreak, but what about an outbreak mimicking a yeast infection? with those "cuts" how contagious are they? is this one of those "areas" not covered by a condom? i haven't had anything like i did the first time where i had noticeable blisters, but just these symptoms that i've mentioned above. i am soooo paranoid it's unreal. i use different razors in the shower, different towel for different body part, and i wash my hands in the shower, after i dry off, and of course after every time i use the bathroom! sorry for all these questions which may repeat themselves, i'm just trying to get a hold on things and my life! i have been researching religiously but sometimes the info on the internet can be so misleading, hear one thing here and another there. thanks for your help though, i really appreciate it.
If the skin on the hands isn't intact - meaning there are bitten cuticles, cuts, dry cracked skin or open wounds - they shouldn't be manually stimulating you until they are healed. The risk of whitlow otherwise is very low in general.
So far the biggest trial of theracines failed :( It's in its 2nd formulation and so far no new news that I've heard.
Knowing type is helpful for deciding how to treat your herpes. If you have hsv1 genitally, odds are that recurrences will be few and far between. It also doesn't shed very often either plus most adults have hsv1 orally. If you have hsv2, suppressive therapy might be your better option since it reoccurs more often and sheds more often.
keep asking questions as you have them :)

thanks... that site was helpful with a lot of my questions and in a way uplifting. i do still have a couple questions that weren't answered. i'm still curious about the percentage rate or possibility of an uninfected male contracting hsv 2 on hands or fingers, "whitlow", i believe it is called. it seemed to me the website said it is more common for cold sores around the mouth to cause anything of that matter. is that true? i read the section about the therapeutic vaccine for people who already have hsv 2, do you have further info on that? finally, how important is it to know if you have hsv 1 vs. hsv 2 genital outbreaks?? thanks again

no i haven't. where can i find it?
lysine doesn't help with herpes. You are already doing all that you can do with the suppressive therapy with valtrex and you are already getting more than enough lysine in your diet naturally most likely. Paying to supplement with it is just wasting your money more than anything .
Have you read the free herpes handbook yet?
