i was diagnosed with genital herpes two not too long ago.. i am still having a hard time with it.. i feel like i am going to be alone for forever.. even though i know that there is someone out there for everyone..its so embarrasing to me to have this ****!! i feel like no one will ever want me.. so if someone could just post something posative about there story and there relationships i would love to here it.. and maybe if someone could help me out with ways to tell some one.. that would be great
Just be open and honest about it when you talk about it and don't ever forget that your herpes isn't the biggest std issue. It's what they might have that is even more important than what you know you have. Don't apologize, don't say things like you probably won't want to be with me once I tell you this or anything like that. It is what it is - you have herpes, you know how to protect them as much as possible from possible transmission and you care enough to be upfront about it before you are intimate. Also don't forget to talk about condomsCondoms Female condoms and birth controlControl Control rx too. Herpes can't hold a candle to sharing a child with someone for the rest of your life!
Herpes has never been a big issue for me. In 22 years of having hsv2 - I've only ever been turned down specifically because of telling someone I have herpes twiceTwice-a-day. Usually they run long before we get to the herpes talk....he he he Most folks in general are accepting of the small risk once they've been properly educated on it and how to reduce their risk. Don't think it's going to keep you home alone for the rest of your life or force you to settle for less than you dreamed of having. The best way to start fighting the unfair stigma that seems to be out there about herpes is to not believe in it yourself :)
