I received a call two days ago from the doctor telling me that I have herpes one.I have been crying since then.I am only 23.I am still a virgin, had oral sex two times with only one guy. He said he does not have it.I just don't know how to handle this right now.couldn't even make it to work today. How you guys have been handle it?(English is not my first language so sorry for the mistakes)

Find out if there was a a positive swabb culture if yes then your positive and you might as well ask for the igg numbers as well. Its you test and you have the right to the facts.

She only gave me a call and said I didn't need to go to her office. So I should definitely go see her for the result??

Culture is proof positive, blood would need the numbers to see if it falls into a false positive range. Find out for sure before proceeding with another test.For the blood we need to know the numbers and you can post them here.

Both I think. But when she called me she said the blood test came up positive. Which one is more accurate?

I need to ask if you had a swabb culture done of the sore when you were at the doctors or was a blood test done?

I would go with the doctors advise. Its would be best to wait for retest but if you test now ask for the western blot.

Thank you for answering. I started having a bump on vagina before my period which does go away after. That's the reason why I went to see the gyn. Was not expected something like that.I am planning to get a second opinion like next week. But I have been reading online that it is best to wait like 3 months before getting tested again. But I just can't wait for that long.so what do you think? She prescribed me valtrex.I don't know if I should start taking it now or should wait...

Hi and just settle down. Its estimate that 70% of the adult population would test positive for oral hsv1 as was picked up in early childhood. If youve never had a breakout by now you most likely never will and the virus is being forced not to surface by the emune system and antibodies.
