not herpes?

I am a 28 year old female. In August '08 I went to my doctor because I had a painfully swollen lymph node on my right groin area. My doctor tested me for STD's & wrote an rx for an antibiotic. I took the rx and the pain & swelling went away the next day. A couple days later, the doctor called and said that all STD tests came back negative.

Several months later (May 09), lymph nodes in the same area were painful and swollen again! However, I was unable to get an appointment until several days later. In the next few days I developed a sore near my anus. When I went to my appointment, the doctor thought it might be herpes. She swabbed the area & sent it to the lab & gave me another rx for an antiviral medication. I took the medication but it didn't seem to help. The sore healed slowly over the next 2 weeks and the lymph node took about 3 weeks stop hurting. During that time, I got a call from my doctor saying that the Herpes test was negative, but she wanted me to come in again so they could draw some blood & test me again. So I did, and two more weeks later, my doctor called and said that the blood test was also negative! I had no other problems since then.

But here I am, about a year later. While in the shower, I noticed yet another painful & swollen lymph node in my right groin area. As I continued to wash, I also noticed a painful pimple-like bump near my anus! If it's not herpes, what could it be?

I have not had any new sexual partners in the last 3 years. I had my yearly PAP & had STD testing a month ago & all tests came back negative.

Thanks! I'm not sure whether it was an igg or an igm, but I'll be sure to find out.

you've pretty much ruled out herpes at this point with your negative blood tests. just make sure your 2nd test was a herpes igg blood test and not igm.

these could be bacterial infections going on or any number of things. b est thing to do is follow up with your provider when you have symptoms.
