Took the both gg tests (early detection and the type specific)
ALL of his results were negative and he was declared herpes free.
My type specifics were negative but early detection was positive.
We were then told that if he didn't have- which by test results he didnt. Then I didn't have it and that the antibodies that the early detection were finding in me may be from having a related disease like chicken pox in childhood. We were told it is a toss up as to if i want to get tested again in 6 weeks but that because he is negative i can rest assured that i am. However I am still worried- any imput?
The chance that your hubby picked up hsv2 from this gal is pretty darn low in general.
the igm test ( early detection ) should never even be drawn for the purpose of diagnosing herpes in adults. Should either of you decide you need retesting, don't even bother with it. It's not an accurate test and it shouldn't be used in adults.
the igg blood test is what's important when it comes to blood testing for herpes. There's no reason for you to continue retesting at this point. I recommend your hubby wait and test one more time just for peace of mind at the 4 months past the last time he had sex
with his other partner and then put it to rest if it's negative. He should only get the igg blood test at that time. he also at that time can get his final hiv test and final syphilis test too.
