occular herpes aaaaah!

by newsufferer, Nov 09, 2009 06:50PM
I'm in my first herpes outbreak and now my eye is bloodshot and swollen. It doesn't really hurt - just a bit of pressure - but nothing too serious. I saw my doctor and she took a swab of it and told me that she was a bit concerned given I was in a primary outbreak and told me that she or an eye specialist would contact me. I haven't gotten a phone call tonight so I'm assuming I will in the morning. Since my appointment tho it ahs become more swollen adn a bit more bloodshot.. Does anyone know how quickly eye herpes develops? Like am I going to wake up in the morning and not be able to see out of one eye??! Is there anything I can do to stop the swelling?! I can't not be able to see! And does anyone think I can still hold out and hope for this not being eye herpes??

You are following up on this properly.  Give your eye doctor a call and ask to be seen and explain why you need to be seen sooner rather than later.  Also follow up on the swab your regular doctor did too.

Have you been trying warm compresses to the eye?
