oral herpes

Can you get a new, different infection of oral herpes in roughly the same place TWICE from the same person? Or once you have it you cant get it again?

You cant catch it twice you have it .  You must be talking about outbreaks. You can get the herpes slimplex 2 (genital herpes) as a second contamination if the person has this type of herpes also.

thanks for spending your time to commentI I should have said that it is pretty clear I got my oral herpes from giving my girlfriend oral sex. We found out she has genital herpes. So is it possible to get another new infection on the lips from doing oral sex with that person again or another female who also may have genital herpes and not know it.

Herpes is a recurrent disease, once you have it you will always have it. If you have symptoms you may very well have recurrent outbreaks, meaning you will get a sore that will eventually heal and go away and then later return in the same spot. This is all caused by the same virus and the same infection. It is not a new infection just because it went away and came back. It is possible that if you perform oral sex while she is having an active outbreak that you could possibly infect a second area around your mouth, but it's always best to avoid sex when she (or you) is having an outbreak.
