oral sex

If I have gentital herpes, symptom free from first outbreak for 12 years now, can i transmit the disease if I give oral sex? Also, can i transmit it orally to someone giving me oral sex, and if so, would they contract oral herpes and what type? I am confused about the transmission between types.

how were you diagnosed as having genital herpes? what testing was done? do you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally?  have you had a type specific herpes igg blood test at any point to know your full herpes status?

do you know your  partner's herpes status?

your genital herpes is not transmitted without contact with your genital area. If you don't have oral herpes, you performing oral sex isn't a risk.

type stays the same regardless of location.  so if you have hsv2 genitally and your partner contracts it orally - it's still hsv2 but just oral.  make sense?
