Is it true that a person can have genital herpes in their mouth?  Or if you receive oral sex does that mean you are at risk only for oral herpes on your genitals?  I find the HSV1 versud 2 thing confusing.  Thanks.

I think you are confusing type with site.  You can have hsv1 orally or genitally. Same with hsv2.

i'm really sorry to post again but i have 4 days till my doctor's appointment and i cant think of anything else.  I was wondering if anyone knows if dry skin on the penis accompanied by tiny bumps around the rim of the head is a symptom of herpes, or if its possible to have that happen 2 weeks after exposure from yeast in the mouth of a woman.  thats what the doc thought my discomfort was the day after but i dont know if it could still be that 2 weeks later.

Read. Try the CDC website, WebMD, ashastd.org - there are many reputable sites that will give you the lo-down on herpes.

Oral herpes is oral, genital herpes is genital. Either can be HSV1 or HSV2. Genital herpes is transmitted via genital to genital contact, or genital to oral contact. Oral herpes can be transmitted by kissing or by oral to genital contact. But you don't have genital herpes on your mouth. You have HSV1 or HSV2 in either location.

No one here can tell you what's wrong. You saw your doc, he thought it wasn't herpes. If your symptoms are lingering and unchanging, that is not typically indicative of herpes. Do follow-up with your doc if that's what it takes to stop worrying.

Its not that he thought it wasnt herpes, it was that i saw the Doc 2 days after exposure so it was too soon to have symptoms.  And believe me, I have spent maybe a hundred hours on the net researching this because I am so stressed.

Sorry, oral herpes can be transmitted to the genitals... and that makes it genital herpes?  or is there still something i dont understand?  The online info I have read is confusing and made me associated HSV1 with oral.

genital herpes is in the genital area. It can be caused by either hsv1 or hsv2.

Oral herpes is in the oral area. It can be caused by either hsv1 or hsv2.

You can have either type in either area.

Your symptoms do not sound like herpes. We've covered this on 2 boards now. I know it's hard but I recommend turning off the computer - stop reading about std's and genitals.  Go do something productive while you wait for your doctor's appointment to come.  Go help a family member or a neighbor with weeding, grass cutting, walking their dog etc and just keep your mind off of your private parts.  You are just adding to your anxiety about all of this with your current behaviors.

I know you are right, that i should stop thinking about it, but i cannot, no matter what i do my mind comes back to it.  The thought of infecting my wife is what bothers me and I cant shake the fear no matter what I do.

I wish I could find some other disease or infection that would cause these tiny blisters around the edge of the glans (glands) of my penis, and at least then I could think its something else, but I really can't think of anything.  As far as I know herpes is the only std that would show up at the 15 day mark, which is when they appeared.

I wonder if its at all possible it is a soap irritation.
