please help! hsv2 new diagnosis-super depressed

I just got diagnosed with herpes on Monday. I've been feeling like hell for about 2 weeks.I didn't have any outbreaks on outside of vagina. My insides are in pain and sore. The Dr did a visual check and didn't see any bumps, sores. I saw with a mirror and it looked red and raw. I am afraid that future outbreaks are going to get worse and that I am going to end up with sores on my vagina etc. I still feel raw form the inside. Any help appreciated. I am so depressed and sad. My ex says I don't have herpes! that he didn't have sores so there!! I can't believe that he is trying to get away with not testing himself. He says he will test positive anyways because he has shingles! He also says that his dr told him that there is no test that distinguishes between Hsv1 and Hsv2. I don't believe any of this because my pcr test says positive and my blood igg says positive for hsv2.
I am taking valtrex 500mg twice a day for a week.

Your partner needs tested to see what his own status is.
