possible false positive

I recently had a full STD screening done and everything was negative except of Herpes II.... it said positive... Igg testing of 1.23.  Is this a low positive and could this be a false positive and worth getting a second test?  I've never had any symptoms.

Your positive was a low positive so it likely wasn't positive at all but you've been doing all your testing way too early for it to be the final answer.

Hi Grace-
Just after your last response, I rec'd a call saying they want me to come back for another test, recent LabCorp tests have come back with problems and they wanted to test me via Quest... that just came back Negative at a 0.49.  So, I've had a positive, equivical and a negative (this from a different lab).  This is all so confussing given this has only been within 3 weeks of each other... how can these results very so much?

still too early for repeat testing to have any meaning at all.

Thank you... I will get re-tested in a few months.  I did freak out a bit yesterday and went to have a second test done just to see what would happen... it came back 1.10.... so it was lower... but not low enough!    Any thoughts?  These tests were 9 days apart.

about 50% of folks will test + by the 2-3 weeks post infection mark.  Your result is also in the low positive range which means it could easily be a false positive. At this point waiting and retesting is the best idea.

thank you.... would the antibodies be showing up this quickly if it was only a month ago?

Well at this point the best bet is to wait 3 more months and then repeat your blood test. If it's still under 3.5 at that point - confirm it with a herpes WB test.   If this is a newly acquired infection from a month ago it'll take that long until you are in the definite positive range on the blood tests.

I know that's not fast and easy answers but it's the best you can do at this point just in case it is a newly acquired infection.

How long had it been since you last had sex prior to being tested?
