The diabetes blood test came back negative. As i was having difficulty getting the herpes possibility out of my head, and that it's been nearly 6 months since the possibility that i could have contracted it, I paid for an Igg herpes test that came back positive for HSV1 (had cold sores forever) and Negative for HSV2 (0.500) so i'm happy that Herpes is not the issue.
i'm still getting irritation on the left side of the penis. it's been around 3 months now. some days are worse than others. I've tried timeline cream that made no difference. i've also tried hydrocortisone but this seems to have no effect either. i've been back to the Dr. He's put me on Amitriptyline which is an anti depressant but also is supposed to help with nerves and anxiety issues. I doubt this is the case but i'll take the meds as prescribed.
If anyone has any idea how to get rid of this irritation i would sure like to hear about it!
Thanks for you response. I've had most things checked out and coming to the conclusion that it's probably a physical issue than a viral one. The discomfort is located in a specific spot on the left side if he penis, along a bulging vein which is why I'm thinking it may be varicous..
Wish I did have some ideas for you, but there are so many possibilities (although herpes isn't really one of them).
I guess you need everthing checked out... fractured penis? trapped nerve? prostate? kidney/bladder issues?
Is the burning very concentrated or does it feel generally like your penis is on fire? Does it feel like it is in the outer shaft or deep inside including along the urethra?
It's been a month since my first post on this and the discomfort outlined is still very much a concern. I've been to the GUM clinic and seen a consultant, they took a look, took a swab and urine sample. She said there was no sign of herpes and after 3 weeks you would expect to see something. she couldn't explain the discomfort and suggested i go see my doctor. The samples came back all negative.
Went to my doctor 2 weeks later and he took look and was surprised how clean my little chap was, he took a swab and suggested it could be recurrent balanitis and to apply hydrocortisone cream twice a day for 2 weeks under the foreskin. He didn't seem too interested in the discomfort i've been experiencing on the shaft of the penis, and it seemed to have calmed down a lot in the last month so i didn't chase it. As the burning was noticeable if not too troublesome, it put the hydrocortisone on this area as well as under the foreskin.
Unfortunately a couple of days later it took a turn for the worst and the burning sensation on the shaft was a lot more obvious and painful. Again it was intermittent lasting a couple of hours before easing off!
i've been searching online for a possible answer and just about every search i do i come across some herpes nightmare that someone has had! Over the last 8 weeks (the tests started a couple of weeks before my first post for other issues) i've had 4 doctors and 4 nurses all tell me that i haven't got herpes, i've also had a full swab test of the areas that are troubling me and these have all come back negative so i can say with 99% certainty that i don't have herpes.
So what is causing the burning sensation on the shaft of the penis. it's localised above a thick vein on the left side. Could this be varicose vein? there is certainly a bulging of a vein in that area, and a spider vein that crosses it... could varicose veins in the penis cause a prolonged and intermittent burning sensation?
i took an ibuprofen 400mg today and dapped some calamine lotion on the area that hurts and this seemed to calm it down. Off to bed now and although I haven't taken an ibuprofen i have dappled some more calamine lotion on the area..
i'm booked in for a blood test in 2 days time to check for diabetes for the recurring balanitis.. however i'm pretty sure this is going to come back ok...
Anyone with any idea what is going on, i would dearly like to hear what you've got to say..!!
That's what I'm thinking, though it is very sore. The strange thing is it didn't start hurting in that area for about 20 hours. I appreciate what you say about the shortness of time but the small bumbs under the foreskin are of particular concern.
I do have back ache at the moment but not sure if that's related or a sports injury. It doesn't hurt to urinate which I've been told is the case in 95% of active herpes outbreaks. I know time will tell but it is bloody uncomfortable right now!!
Hi, no std including herpes shows symptoms the next day. The average for herpes is a week or so and it wouldnot be inside your penis. Appears as an injury from the act itself.
