prodrome question

Hi,

i had been diagnosed with HSV2 20 years ago and for the past few years have had relatively frequent outbreaks (~10-12 a year). However, for the past 18 months or so, what I've noticed is that even when i dont have an outbreak I seem to have an almost continual prodromal feeling of itching / burning / tingling which keeps moving around from my thigh to my pubic area to my buttocks etc. This happens almost every day for large amounts of time per day, but they dont result in an outbreak all the time. This feeling of it being prodrome obviously keeps me worried that I'm infectious all the time and I'm paranoid about this and have stayed away from intimacy the entire time. I started taking Famvir suppressive dosage a month ago and its not made any difference. Question is, can someone have prodromal symptoms on a continual basis? And am I infectious all the time?

thanks
George

Hi Georges
I am woman and I feel exactly the same!
Can we discuss this together?

fungal infections are not std's.  we have fungus on our skin all the time - just sometimes it overgrows and causes us issues.  Don't underestimate what a case of jock itch can do in your body when not treated!

follow up on this more to try to better figure out what is really going on.

No I havent had any workup done at all. They did a blood test and a culture when i was initially diagnosed with herpes, but no tests since. Not sure how i could get a fungal infection or so in the past 18 months unless it's been latent since when i got the herpes twenty years ago, since i've been in a long term relationship since shortly after then

The odds of this being due to your herpes at this point are incredibly low. What sort of work up have you been thru?  Have you been evaluated for a fungal infection at all or treated for one during this time?
