yes we both had igm and igg done. igm I guess looks at a new infection? but in reading I see that test is pretty much useless so im happy we had the igg done as well. they tested us both for everything possible, all results are negative.

The testing you needed to have to confirm a lack of infection was IgG antibodies for HSV1 and HSV2. Is this definitely what testing you can your husband have had?

also wanted to add I had something like this happen to me 5 years ago in the same spot. went to my doctor and he did a swab and it was also negative but came back as some kind of bacteria. maybe im wrong but if I had this long wouldn't it have shown up in my labs. my husband was also tested and is negative. thank God for him, he has been my rock through this whole ordeal.

no sexual history is not an issues. this all started in February and I was tested the first time the end of march beging of April time frame then again about 6 weeks ago. all negative. I am seeing a specialist now. she also told me its very unlikely that a herpes lesion would cause lasting pain or discomfort. just sucks and im at a loss and just wanted to know if it could be possible, thank you for taking the time to responded

I am sorry it is such a hard question to answer. This is because probably in 95% plus of cases the answer to your question is no, there is no ongoing pain once a herpes lesion disappears. It is very rare for herpes to cause permanent nerve damage. For some people though, they swear that herpes lesions do cause them issues such as you describe; it is just very rare. In some cases I'm sure there are additional complications.

How long after the appearance of the sore was the blood drawn for the test? Does sexual history give you cause for concern?

so I am guessing that no one knows.............great!  I feel so hopeless. I have tested negative now 2 times for 1 and 2 but about 6 months ago I had the skin  peel off my vulva and cause a dime size sore. sore healed within five days now im just dealing with the lasting pain from it.  (hurt like hell) just thought someone on here would have some input. I am going for another biopsy next Monday to rule out cancer of the vulva or lichen. just wanted to know if this was herpes does the pain last that long after an outbreak? does it cause nerve damage to the genital area?
