YES!!! you can get hsv2 orally the same way u can get hsv1 in the genital..the only difference is that hsv2 lets say "prefers" to b in the genital area and hsv1 "prefers to be in the oral area. You will still get sores in ur mouth if infected with hsv2 just not as many outbreaks if u were infected with hsv1 orally....

let me rephrase my questions

Person A (non infected male) with Person B (infected female HSV2 (no oral lesions only 1 genital lesion). If person B gives oral to PersonA...can she transmit HSV2 to person A? Assuming she has had no history of mouth sores. only hx of vaginal sore.

I was under th assumption there has to be actual skin to skin contact of affected areas.

I thought i was clear... if A(non infected person) performs oral sex on B(infected person with hsv2) there is a chance that A could get hsv2.. even if there r no visible genital sores u may still get infected. even when there are no sores there is a period when there is viral shedding which can transmit the virus.

i think you misunderstood...its ok. what about vice versa?

if B(INFECTEDfemale) performs oral sex on A(non infected male) can A get genital herpes if B(has no oral lesions--since she has HSV2 not HSV1 and did not have any lesions on the mouth nor gentials at the time). im sure it is possible ...anything is possible but...what are the chances?

thanks

ok i did lol! sorry... does she know for sure that she has hsv2 only in the genital area? b/c she could also have it orally. When some one gets hsv2 orally its alot different there are very few outbreaks in a life time from hsv2 in the oral area.. and sometimes when u get hsv2 in the gentials first then hsv2 orally u might not even have any outbreaks b/c of the anitbodies that ur body already created with hsv2 or if you do get an outbreak it will not be too significant.. There doesnt have to b sores present to pass herpes.. there is also viral shedding to worry about.

Not many folks have hsv2 orally. Of those who do, typically it doesn't shed very often ( 1% of days which comes out to 3.65 days/year ).  The odds of them performing oral on you when they were shedding the virus orally are incredibly small.  the odds of them even having hsv2 orally to start with are also very, very low.
