So you've been sexually active with your current bf before this started? He really needs to get tested to see what his status is and never assume that it didn't come from him.
Did your lesion culture results show hsv2 specifically or just herpes and it's presumed it's hsv2 because it's genital? Did you also have a blood test done for herpes too at the same time?
I'm assuming you are on acyclovir that you are taking it 3x/day? if so you can not take it just 1x/day - it's not effective that way. Let me know what medication you were prescribed, what dose and how many days you've taken it so far.

I thought that I had cut myself at first, and as days went by it got worse. I made an appointment at my gyno, they did a pap smear and he swabbed the infected area, and sent it to the lab, a week later I got the results that i have herpes. my boyfriend recently went to the doctors, and the doctor told us to not worry about anything, that if we are in a serious relationship to just continue what we are doing just be careful when im having a breakout. Im greatful to have such a great boyfriend that he is still with me even though he knows that Iam infected.
I do have concerns about my prescription just because it gives me heartburn and im suppose to take it twice three times a day. I quit taking the recommended dose and only taking it once a day because of the heartburn but I don't want to go back to the doctors cuz it cost so much money. Do you have any suggestions?
I encourage you both to read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com . there is also a terrific patient counseling video there too to watch.
once your bf knows his status you two can better figure out what precautions are needed. How were you diagnosed as having herpes?
