recently diagnosed with herpes

I just got into a new relationship with someone who is into very rough sex. Minutes after receiving unprotected oral I noticed my labia major was incredibly swollen and cut open. Two days later I noticed 2 small red bumps near my inflamed labia, i was in an incredible amount of pain and was very itchy but assumed it was just my cut-up labia. 3 days later i noticed many new sores, increased pain and extreme burning with urination. i went to the clinic the next day and was diagnosed with Herpes (still waiting to hear if its HSV- 1 or 2) My partner then disclosed that he used to get cold sores but hasn't had one in years. we've had unprotected oral sex several times, months before we got together and i never got an outbreak. He claims that none of his other sexual partners have ever gotten herpes after sex with him.
Did it transmit because he broke my skin down there?
Do I have to worry about having oral sex again?
Is it possible to have gotten HSV 2 even though he has HSV 1?

He's never been tested but is going to the doctors this week to be. does it has anything to do with having an open wound or was it just bad luck that this time he might have been shedding ?

Not to discredit Life, but this sounds like herpes to me. Your symptoms align with a first time infection and visual sores are not needed to transmit the virus as Life and others know. You don't know if he was shedding at the time of the oral episode.

I would be surprised if the swab came back negative given the nature and description of your symptoms. Has your partner ever tested for both HSV1 and HSV2? It's possible he could have HSV2 and not know it, but odds are this sounds like an oral to genital infection.

Please let us know your results.

Yes in that visual diagnoses is not relable at all. You should have a blood test as well because if your swab is positive and your blood is negative it would be a recent infection. If the swab is negative it does not mean you dont have herpes as swabs are only good for showing a positive not a negative as they can miss the herpes in the swab.

They swabbed but no blood test. Is it common for a bacterial or fungal infection to to misdiagnosed as herpes?

Hi, if he did not have any lip sores at the time,  your risk would be close to zero that you were infected by him as oral shedding does not occur that often. Since all this was related to the first cut, it would seem that your having a bacterial or fungal infection vrs herpes outbreak.
Herpes is transmitted by being rubbed into the nerve and having a cut would not make any difference.
Not sure what you mean by being worried about oral sex again and him having oral hsv2 is not common and not something to be concerned about. In almost all cases. oral herpes is HSV1.
Did they swab the area and a blood test?
