recommended suppressive therapy for genital hsv-1

My girlfriend got genital HSV-1 from me when I was not symptomatic.  She is on therapy for the initial breakout.  What is the recommended suppressive therapy for genital herpes from HSV-1?

Actually we don't recommend suppressive therapy for hsv1 genitally . most folks don't get recurrences enough to warrant it and it doesn't shed much either. If your particular situation, if you have hsv1 orally and your partner has hsv1 genitally, it shouldn't be much of an issue at all in this relationship for you.

I have hsv1 genital. I constantly have a breakout. I am depressed. I got it 2 years ago August. I thought I would not get tons of breakouts b/c it was HSV1 - not so. I got it a few times various spots on the  outside genitals but now it is ALWAYS ALWAYS right on the very inside of the vaginal opening. Months.  I can't really see blisters but I think I see a few tiny pin size ones maybe. Always red, irritated. and I don't have sex so it isn't from that.  I am going to go ask the doctor again (I haven't been in a long time) if that is what it is. The doctor I had was bad. Is bad. Do people get it often right inside there?  I think I get shingles spots now too. I know they aren't the same HSV virus but...  it is related in my case.  I do drink coffee. Do I have to quit?

this doesn't sound like it's your herpes currently causing all these symptoms. you need to follow up on this with your provider.

just because you know you have hsv1 genitally, doesn't mean that it's the cause of everything that goes on in the genital area.
