I smoked a pipe with a friend who had what looked like the beginning-ish stages of a cold sore.. I didn't realize she had a cold sore until after- I was sitting to her left & it was on the right.. it didn't look like it was oozing but it wasn't at the scab stage.

I always wait a couple minutes before I hit a pipe (pot, nothing crazy). The bowl wasn't saliva-y. what are my chances of having contracted cold sores?

I read that HSV-1 cannot live outside the body for more than 10sec, but I've also read that it could be up to a few hours... I'm concerned! :(

The odds are low that you would contract the virus. If no visible outbreak within 14 days from exposure, then you can be confident you were not infected.

I'd like to add that I'm a healthy 29 year old woman, I had my first cold a few months ago mostly just a cough, other than that I haven't been sick since 2012- so my immune system is pretty good. I do no have any open cuts or sores on my lips.

I'm honestly horrifiedddd that I'm going to end up with cold sores.. my mouth is one of my best features it would be devastating :'( :'(
