spread of hpv-1

this is just a random question that i thought about today after thinking how common hpv-1 is today.. and how it is becoming more common everyday. i lived in tallahassee for the past 3 years right, well its a big college town.. florida state univ and famu two of the largest colleges in the nation in their demographics. anyways, over the past 3 years i could not tell you how many red plastic cups that i have shared with a party full of people playing beer pong, flip cup, and what not.. or how many random girls i've kissed that have kissed other random guys... so im not quite sure if it is possible to pass hsv-1 from lips touching a plastic cup after anothers have.. i know kissing it is possible... but if it is possible.. i dont think there would be any way that i did not have oral hsv-1 along with all of my friends? could someone shed some light on this question for me. thanks

as an adult, oral herpes is almost always transmitted thru romantic type kisses.  Just sharing drinks is pretty low risk.

well "romantic" kisses are very common in the college party scene.... its not unusual for someone to make out/ tongue and throat more than one person in a night that they have never met before in their life.

It also isn't likely you are going to catch anything if that person doesn't have an outbreak lesion and if they did, they would hopefully be responsible enough NOT to kiss anyone! It is pretty low risk.

Kissing is a terrific way to share all sorts of germs. If you are worried about germs, don't kiss strangers.
