Hi, I was wondering if u already have hsv2 is ur body like make it so u can't catch hsv1 like dormant or something to it? Or is it still possible to catch hsv1?

I think you are confusing site and type in your head. You can have either type of herpes in either location.
You both having hsv2 genitally though makes it highly unlikely you'd contract hsv2 orally from performing oral on your partner.

No blood test was done. Just culture lesions and they told me I have hsv2. Never had an outbreak on in or around my mouth. I have a new partner who is hsv2 as well, my concern is I want to perform oral sex on him but I am worried since he only has hsv2 I will then get cold sores or hsv1. Should I be concerned or worried about this? Thanks.
if someone is infected with hsv1, then you can contract hsv1 from them. Some folks are just infected with 1 type of herpes simplex but most folks actually are infected with both.

Yes, I believe you did, so basically hsv1 and hsv2 are two different infection/diseases.so you can't get hsv2 orally by going down on them if they have hsv2 only how do u get hsv 1 then? Thanks Grace:)
hsv2 never turns into hsv1. they are 2 totally different infections.

Hi grace, both partners have hsv2 only. So while performing oral sex with your only hsv2 status partner and vise versa can you transmit hsv1 by like going down on them then there genital area by them having hsv2 cause you to get hsv1. You know what I'm saying? I know I'm probably really confusing you. I'm sorry. That's the one question. Second question, let's just say the status is of one partner hsv1 and 2 and goes the hsv2 goes down on or kisses hsv1 and 2 partner, can you get it that way also. Thanks grace, again:)
if neither partner has hsv1, then hsv1 can't be transmitted in a relationship. does one partner have hsv1 and both have hsv2? I'm a little confused about the statuses of everyone.
Ok thank u, so if two hsv2 one male partner n one female partner perform oral sex on one another n they don't have hsv1 can they get hsv1 from giving oral to one another? I'm not sure if u have already answermed my question but can u please clarify for me, thanx grace!:)
hsv2 seems to provide significant protection against contracting hsv1 but not the other way around. You can still contract it but the odds of such are lower.
