tailbone pain

I have had tailbone/sacral pain for approximately 9 months. It starts with prickly pain in my genital area and then develops into tailbone and sacral pain and lasts for weeks and months. I've never had a sore or bump that oozes or crusts over. I've heard that herpes lies in the nerve roots of these places. Is it me being obsessive or could this be symtoms of herpes? I'm nervous as I am in a new relationship and do not want to potentially infect him. Please help.

Have you been tested for HSV2?  Thats what is sounds like to me.  I have hsv2 and I occasionally have a stinging sensation in my tailbone for a few seconds.  I have recently tested positive for HSV2 and In the first few months after my initial ob, I would have the crawling sensation between my legs at night.  It seemed like most nights at first, but the frequency is less now.  I have experienced very intense tingling a few times.  This week I have been experiencing a burning sensation for a few seconds at my tailbone.  It comes and quickly passes.

I have to tell those of you that are worried about having this virus.  It is initially a devastating diagnoses.  I am an attractive, outgoing person, with a generally great life.  Having a life-time STD is something I never thought would happen to me.  I have done a lot of reading to wrap my head around it.   I suspect who I may have gotten it from, but it is near impossible to be sure.  For me, the worst part is having to worry about infecting someone else.  I only had 2 outbreaks and they were very mild.  The crawling sensation is strange as hell, but once you know that it is just a common symptom it just becomes something that you live with.  I can totally understand how people have this virus and don't know they have it.  Before I was diagnosed, I kept a general journal of my health, aches and pains, stress level, sexual actiivity.  I recommend that everyone do this.  What sometimes seems meaningless, helps you connect dots later.

Hi grace I am a 50 yr old male and I posted elsewhere on this site, however I would like you to review my concerns. I have come to value your oinion from being on this site.
I had an outbreak that was very mild 8 months ago June 2012. I had tingling redness a few bumps on my scrotum and shaft, itching and pure panic. Soon after i also had my first lip cold sore. I believe i got it in boh places. The visible genital symptoms lasted a couple of days, and by the time i saw my urologist (history of prostatitis), he refused to diagnose GH. I went to lab-corp twice in 3 months, and it shows I have HV-1 and it has been there for a while no IGM just type 1 IGG captia test. I went back to him with results, and he still refused to buy it. Saying he has never seen Genital HSV1 and the great majority of people have hsv1 go see a neurologist for the sacral pain. I have since seen a spine surgeon, a neurologist, and now a pain management doctor just had sacroiliac injections no help. My symptoms are burning coccyx pain, buttock pain and paresthesia on both sides of my glutes. I can't sit for 20 min. without being in constant pain, and discomfort. There is some bulging of lumbar disks L3-4 and L4-5 but nothing that would cause major problems. I am sure this is herpetic, and really don't know how to handle this I have not pressed my concern with the pain management doctor. I told his resident doc. that does his prep visit of my concern, and she shrugged it off saying i would've have had alot of pain if it were GH. Constant tail bone pain numbness in my seat, and gluteal pain, nerve crawling sensation in my glutes through anus etc. I am desperate for help. Can you suggest my next course of action?
