test result have confused me & my partner

on  3/16/11 i went into a clinic because i had what i know recognize as symptoms of herpes i have never ever had even a smallest infection in the genital area. So the doctor at the  clinic takes a look and says it looks like Herpes she takes a culture from one of the sores and i get tested for all the other STDs, STIs & HIV/ AIDS; they all come back negative. So  as soon as i find out it could be a possibility i told my partner to get tested. I have only had one other partner in the past but my partners had a few before we engaged in sexual activity we both got tested but were unaware that doctors didnt test for herpes unless symptoms are present. Anyhow my test results came back and it says i am positive HSV1 in which i already taking medication to help the healing process of the sores; so today 3/23/11 my partners test results come back negative he was showing no symptoms so he got the blood test. I dont understand how this could be possible if we have been sexually active for about 8 months?  and let me remind you this is a monogamous relationship for the both of us. Therefore i dont know if my test results are misleading or my partners? please help

Also i have scheduled an appt. with my regular doctor for a second opinion!

Thank you1

well this could be just your first obvious recurrence of a prior hsv1 genital infection or it could be that your partner really does have it. even the best herpes blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections so it's hard to tell sometimes.

so is there a possibility one of our test results could be wrong?

did you have a blood test that was hsv1+ or was it a lesion culture from the sores that was hsv1+?
