tingling but no sores

For as long as I can remember, (probably from age 18/19 or so, I'm 31 now), I've had this random tingling in my labia that comes and goes.  I have never had any sores or blisters, just this random tingling.  I brought it up to my GYN the other day and she recommended that I get tested for HSV, so I went for the blood test.  I have had 4 partners in my life and none of them had any symptoms of herpes.  Is it possible that I actually HAVE it and didn't know?  Could that be the only symptom?  Wouldn't I have had some other symptoms throughout the years?

I'm really panicking right now.  I'm with a great guy (for almost a year) and have no idea how I would even bring this up if I am positive.  Any thoughts?

Sounds more like Persistant Arousal Syndrome than herpes... I have experienced both, including clitoral priapism.  It was scary and uncomfortable. I was too embarrassed to tell my doctor.

Ok, I was able to go to the lab and pick the results up myself. Of course, my doctor is out today so I have no idea what they mean.

HSV1-IGG  0.00
HSV2-IGG  0.03

I'm assuming that means both are negative?
Your thoughts?

it should never take 2 1/2 weeks for lab results!

the test itself only takes a few hours to run.

I called.  They're not back yet.  She told me to call back in 2 weeks.  Um...really?!!
I had the test last Wednesday.

they can be back in a day or two. it all depends on the clinic, what lab they use and their procedure for reporting results to patients.

give them a call and see  if yours are back :)

Here is one of many posts by Dr. HHH on the experts forum stating that tingling alone is NOT a symptom of herpes.

That is more focused anxiety than anything.  You are "feeling" for something to be going on.

Even if I've never had an actual OB of sores?  It doesn't last all day. Just random on and off throughout the day, but it's been almost 2 weeks now. I don't remember it ever lasting this long in the past, or perhaps I'm paying more attention now since I'm actually worried about herpes.

No tingling shouldn't last more than 2 days if it was herpes.

I am waiting for my test results...will hopefully  have those next week.

However, the tingling that I have has been pretty consistant for at least the last 12-14 days.  Does this sound typical of herpes infection?  Everything I'm reading says those symptoms only last a day or two.  This has been pretty consistent...genitals and thighs.

at this point the best thing you can do is wait for your test results and go from there. hopefully they are back soon :)

That's kind of what I though, but I have no other symptoms.  I don't know if I'm working myself up over nothing or not.  Waiting for the test results is killing me.

I will feel horrible if I've unkowingly infected my partner.  I have no idea how he will take it and I'm overall just really nervous.

Could I just be asymptomatic?  Could this be my only symptom?  So confused!!  Thanks for taking the time to respond.  I do appreciate it.

usually you have more symptoms than just tingling.

odds are you were never tested for herpes when pregnant either.

Do you know if anyone has ever tested positive and had tingling be their only symptoms?

The The numbers are important for some false positive issues.  The numbers do show though a positive and negative.  But a number in the negative range is negative.

I already have two kids from my previous marriage. I have never had any symptoms but the random tingling.

What are the differences in the test results numbers?  Isn't it just a positive or negative?

it only takes one partner so certainly covering your bases with testing was appropriate, especially if you plan on starting a family at some point.

if you are positive for hsv2, we'll gladly help give you some suggestions on how to talk to your partner about this too :)

if you need help with your test results, just post them here - e.g. hsv1 igg 6.9 and hsv2 igg 3.8 or whatever they are.

hang in there - it's hard not to panic but covering your bases is in your best interest all around :)
