triamcinolone 1%
Visual diagnosis 3 years ago as plaque psoriasis in the genital area and prescribed Triamcinolone cream 1%. When I felt itchy, I began using the cream immediately. Within a week to 2 weeks of using a small amount of the cream daily my skin healed. Unfortunately it would recur within about a month. Visited derm dr. recently and he diagnosed as herpes. I have not used the cream and have had a lot of pain and outbreak in the same 2 sites. Slow to heal and feels like I have been kicked in the crotch, sore nerve pain.
I understand from what I have read that Triamcinolone cream is not to be used on genital herpes. However if the experience I have had without the cream is terrible. If this cream can cure my symptoms before an outbreak, why should it not be used? Thank you for your reply.

I think what may be happening is the product also contains cortizone which is a skin thinner (negative affect) and your using it so much the area is being thinned and the tingling is not from herpes but from the negative affect of the cream. Just something to think about.
Thanks for responding. I am aware of its purpose, however l have used it for 3 years and it stops the bumps from appearing. As soon as l get tingling, l start to use it and l do not get an outbreak. I am just healing on a lesion that l did not use it on. I have had this lesion for 8weeks and on valtrex the past 2.
Its used for treating eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and certain other inflammatory skin conditions. Its an anti inflamatory medicine. Herpes is a virus that erupts to the skins surface as sores, blisters, razor type cuts. It wont prevent the virus from surfacing, only antiviral med would inhibit this. As for the sores, they heal by them selves in about a week once the virus dies. The sores scab over and fall off, except inside of the vagina where no scabing takes place.
