trying to undertand how to read the different test

Hello, I have just recieved my lab results from my doctor from a yearly physical, I always get tested for std's and have never been positive for anything untill now, and I have never had a outbreak or symtoms of herpes other than a cold sore once in a while, not very often ,  my HerpeSelect 1 lgG was 0.50   shows negative, and my HerpeSelect 2 lgG  was 0.03 shows negative , BUT, my Herpes 1&2 lgM  test  shows a 0.97  equivocal and was marked at High. My question is,# 1. what is the difference  between testing herpes 1 lgG,  testing herpes 2,lgG   and then testing herpes 1&2 lgM together ?, in some of your other forms you have mentioned the concern about lgM testing and its accuracy  #2 Do I  need to worry about a 0.97 equivical number.? #3  Most important to me, do I have Herpes, and should I be concerned about my girlfriend of 4yrs. I very much apreciate any information that you could give me,  Thank You !

Thanks for the direction to the past post, it was very helpfull. as others were saying, for some reason it seems hard to get detailed information about this topic, This site and  forums has helped me to understand herpes ,and the different test more than my doctor, and the health center in my area. thanks again.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/248394 is a past post by HHH on the std expert forum that very nicely explains why the herpes igm test is a bad test that should've never been drawn on you in the first place.  Totally disregard the results of it.

If your gf also gets tested for herpes and doesn't have it, no reason for more testing. If you two are in a monogamous relationship, you are wasting your money on getting tested for std's at this point anyways.
